Granite State College: University System of New Hampshire

Cost of Attendance

The Cost of Attendance (COA), also known as the student’s budget, is an estimate of educational expenses incurred during the student’s period of enrollment to maintain a reasonable/moderate standard of living.

The federal government defines allowable costs that may be included in a school’s cost of attendance. Granite State College’s cost of attendance is broken down into the following two categories:

  • Direct Educational Costs: include tuition and fees (charges that appear on your student account)
  • Indirect Educational Costs: include books/supplies, transportation, loan fee (for borrowers, living and personal expenses

*Undergraduate costs include both undergraduate degree programs and Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification programs.

State and federal information is collected and reviewed annually to update the cost of attendance if needed.  A Granite State College student survey is conducted every three years to review and define student budgets to maintain the core principles of a comprehensive, reasonable, systemic, and documented approach in developing the cost of attendance for our students. Allowable additional budget costs may be approved by the Director of Financial Aid on a case by case basis. Students are required to provide specific supporting documentation such as signed student statements, receipts, copies of statements, 3rd party documentation, etc. Additional documentation, signed student statements, etc. may be required upon review of an individual student’s request before any additional budget category is approved.
