Granite State College joins forces with Manchester Community College, expands degree options

In order to expand access to affordable bachelor’s degrees in greater Manchester, Granite State College (GSC) and Manchester Community College (MCC) have launched a new partnership. On Wednesday, January 22, 2014, this new venture was celebrated with Governor Maggie Hassan, Mayor Ted Gatsas, as well as the Chancellors of both the University and Community College Systems of New Hampshire.

"With this partnership, MCC students and others in Greater Manchester have a new, seamless and affordable option to earn a bachelor degree right on our campus,” explains Manchester Community College President Dr. Susan Huard. “This is a win-win opportunity; MCC students can complete their bachelor’s degree right here on our campus, and GSC students will have access to the expanded resources we have at MCC."

Beginning this spring, GSC will offer bachelor’s degree courses in the following programs at the new MCC site: nursing, health care management, applied studies with management, and teacher and education. Students may also pursue any other GSC degree program online or at GSC’s Manchester campus at MillWest.

“As an institution that’s main focus is to make education accessible, developing strong ties to the Community College System of New Hampshire is imperative. Through our new partnership, Manchester Community College and GSC can leverage resources to make an education a more distinct and achievable possibility for New Hampshire residents in greater Manchester,” said Kathi Mullin, Chief Administrative Officer of Granite State College.

By sharing classrooms, library space, and student facilities, this partnership allows both schools to maintain a firm grip on expenses, assuring more affordable education for all those who seek degrees from either Manchester Community College or Granite State College. This venture is the latest in an on-going series of similar partnerships between GSC and community colleges all around New Hampshire.

This new site for GSC joins nine additional Granite State College campus locations across New Hampshire and two other Community College co-locations. To learn more, please visit
