Granite State College Names Dr. Laurie Quinn Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
“The creation of the position and the appointment of Dr. Laurie Quinn are representative of both the advancements of Granite State College and the substantial contributions Quinn has made in her roles at Granite State,” said Dr. Todd J. Leach, President of Granite State College and Interim Chancellor of the University System of New Hampshire.
Quinn adds, “I am proud to help further the teaching and learning mission of the College, which focuses on access to quality degree programs for working adults and innovation in higher education.”
With 20 years’ experience in higher education administration, Dr. Quinn most recently served as GSC’s Dean of Undergraduate Studies. She previously worked in the nonprofit sector as Senior Program Director at the state’s Humanities Council, contributing as a public scholar and grants officer.
Dr. Quinn’s academic interests include issues of social class; non-traditional higher education, including emerging trends and prior learning innovations; cultural and feminist theory; British literature; and American and British poetry tradition.
Additionally, Quinn leads community and workplace book discussions, including the NEH-funded and hospital-based Literature & Medicine series; as well as New Books, New Readers, which provides an encouraging and enjoyable environment for adults who are new to reading or new to the English language. She has served on the College Board’s English Literature Examination Committee and is presently an Institutional Representative and Board Member for New Hampshire Women in Higher Education Leadership.
Quinn earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Boston College and a Ph.D. in English literature at the University of New Hampshire.
